7 iPhone Accessories for the Frequent Traveler

7 iPhone Accessories for the Frequent Traveler

iPhone accessories are in no short order, but half of them are of such poor quality it’s a wonder anyone bothered to make it at all. Below you’ll find both tested and dream-list products that have no less than 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon. (N.B. None of these products include affiliate links.)

1. Clear Silicone Case

I’ve purchased Speck, Society6, and non-brand cases, but this simple, clear silicone case has been one of my favorites. Easy to take off and put on, it doesn’t trap dirt that scratches my phone, yet it still provides protection from drops.

Any case would do, but this one had great reviews on size and clarity, so I bought it and have been very happy!

2. 10ft Lightning Cable

This durable cable is extra long, so you can use it across the room when necessary. It comes with a nice velcro tie for cable organization as well as a 12-month warranty. I constantly use it at harsh angles without problem, and I’ve never had the frustrating “This accessory is not supported by this iPhone” warning.

After buying two of these 10ft cords, I’m totally a supporter of the Cambond brand!

3. External Battery

An absolute must-have when traveling, even if it’s just a day-trip! This little guy can charge my iPhone 6S Plus multiple times, and I’ve even used it to charge two phones at once. I’ve never ran out of battery from this guy, but he does add some weight to the average purse contents. This is the version I have, but Anker makes a PowerCore Plus version now, too.

Greta for any situation… walking around the city, driving in the car, even at home when you forgot your charging block!

4. Tempered Privacy Screen

OK OK, it’s not that private! But if you want a little bit more privacy, this will do the trick. It will completely block your screen from anyone viewing at about a 45% degree angle, but someone sitting next to you will still see your screen at about the same brightness as you. Plus, it’s tempered glass for scratch and shatter protection.

Protection and privacy, all in one.

5. Secure Pocket Backpack

I’m a total backpack snob. Is that weird?? I like to be prepared, and the typical purse can’t distribute that weight, so my travel-companion of choice is a backpack. Maybe not for walking around the city, but definitely for getting there. I recently bought a new bag with the perfect phone compartment, but it’s no longer available, so I found this one. I haven’t tried this particular bag, but I like the back-side pocket and honestly I totally want this bag now – it looks better padded than mine!

This backpack is definitely my style, and made for travel, but any backpack with a hidden compartment will help secure your phone.

6. Sim Card Case

Going international? Use this case to keep your sim cards in one place, along with the tool for removing and replacing them. (I used the disorganized DIY method… it involved a paperclip and an envelope. :p)

More costly than a paper clip, this case is better suited for travel and organization.

7. Mobile Tripod

Travel and photography go hand-in-hand. This tripod is great for landscapes, but it’s also less embarrassing than a selfie-stick, if that makes you self-conscious! I’ve got an older version by a different manufacturer, but the concept is the same: this tripod isn’t just for flat surfaces… it bends to the environment.

Goes anywhere, flips anyway, perfect for anyone!

BONUS: Bluetooth Remote

Ah, I don’t have this one yet! Paired with the tripod or the backpack (and maybe a pair of bluetooth headphones) this remote lets you go handsfree! Because I’m kind-of all over the place, I’d prefer to have this on a wrist-sized lanyard or something I can attach to my backpack.

This full-featured remote makes travel a breeze, then can be used at home for a wider variety of purposes!

Please share your own recommendation or review of a must-have travel accessory!
