I’ve been far too productive this last week, so today I’m revisiting all the wonderful sites that keep me grounded in uselessness – and I hope they are a benefit to others!
Playing Games
I don’t let myself play many games, because I just do not want to stop playing them. I break the rules when it comes to games that are easier to pull myself away from.
Here Be Monsters – HBM is a facebook or web-based game that has quests for you to accomplish. It’s the game I found when searching “games similar to Glitch” – a beautiful game that shut down.
Solitaire – On my iPhone, Solitaire is my go-to game. Sometimes I play for speed, but it’s a good mindless game in my opinion, too.
Reading Sites
The internet has so much content, it’s easy to just continually click links to relevant content and get lost in it all.
Bloglovin’ – I was a solid Google reader user, but since this service was also shut down, I’ve moved to another web-based RSS site for my needs. I have my sites all categorized into topic, so I can read about whatever I’m actually interested in at the moment.
Pinterest – Like most of the female population, I love Pinterest. Following people is great, but Pinterest has added a lot of new content discovery methods and I always find their ‘Popular’ page interesting.
Learning Something New
WordPress – The WordPress and StudioPress forums are my favorite to browse or search for new ideas on how to accomplish a task on WordPress. I’m always discovering a new way I can improve my code and provide a better product for my clients!
Illustrator – I don’t mind Photoshop (especially when editing… photos!) but I love Illustrator. And I love when my clients have their designs in Illustrator. So I try to do all of my work there. Only, I’m no master. I don’t have a go-to site when it comes to Illustrator tutorials, but even if I only have a vague idea of what I want to accomplish, Google can find me a pretty good source, or point me in the correct directions.
Share a suggestion with me?
For the sake of all things distracting, I’d love to hear what else is worth wasting my time on! My boyfriend does a lot of reddit, I know that’s always a good source of enjoyment.
