Another new romcom, Marry Me is about the horribly, terrifyingly, hilariously embarrassing engagement of Annie and Jake.
First Impressions
Besides wondering where this guy is from (I’m so bad with recall! BTW it was Veronica Mars <3), I felt an overwhelming, painful awkwardness. But I couldn’t help but burst out laughing! Then, of course, I felt bad for this poor girl – that’s gonna be rough to recover from.
Ever cynical, I’m sure this show is going to be the typical “oh they’re wrong in every way” and yet “they’re meant to be, despite their differences” which is getting old, and (in my opinion) not real life!

From the trailer, I thought this show would be really painful and embarrassing to watch, right? And it is… but it’s not as bad as I thought. It’s really funny! So many great details are cut out of the trailer (obviously). My favorite scene is after the (first) embarrassing engagement, when you see the guests driving home, discussing the event, in their own ways.
Funny Characters
Desperate, crazy Annie. I love her. She’s got to be the reason to watch this show. And forgiving, laid-back Jake? They aren’t opposites… they’re meant to be! I mean, Annie is crazy as hell – she’s probably not meant to be with anyone. But when she grows up a little, she’ll be great with Jake. Because they are pretty much adorable.
Funny Show
I don’t know, there doesn’t seem to be a lot to say about this trailer! I thought it was really funny, and easy-going. It didn’t have anything about it that was vying to be different, it’s just your typical sitcom. Which I think was a strong point for it. Honestly, I think I can relate to Annie a little too well. I’d love to hear an opinion on it from someone who isn’t a little bit crazy (if that person exists)!
