Teal, Pink, Glittered Nails

Manicure Mondays: Teal, Pink, Glittered Nails

I had an amazing weekend! Last night Kristofer and I ordered Stevi B’s hot wing pizza and watched rom-coms (specifically Silver Lining’s Playbook and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days). Saturday night I went out with friends, and all day before I was in Jacksonville spending time with Kristofer’s sister and shopping. That’s actually where I picked up these nail colors – from Urban Outfitters, which I’d never been in before. I also picked up a glow-in-the-dark nail color, though I haven’t tried that yet.

This nail design ended up looking a bit more patriotic than I intended, since the pink can look red in some lights. Just makes it a great idea to try in a few weeks for 4th of July!

You’ll need:

  • Two nail colors
  • One glitter color
  • Nail polish remover
  • Thin brush
  • Tape

Begin by painting a base coat. I did the pink underneath because I didn’t want my nails to look like I’d gotten them all bloody at the ends. (Seriously, these are the thoughts that go through my head.) Also because I tested the color of each bottle and the teal is more opaque/thicker overall.

Using  tape at an angle, I created the two-toned look. Then, I used the back of my paint brush to top the dividing line with glitter. I originally was thinking I would paint my nails teal, do a vertical teal stripe in the center, and a smaller line of glitter between that. I think I just imagined it too linear, and switched to an angular design.

With the proper bristle side of my brush and nail polish remover, I cleaned around the edges. Viola!

Think I should have done the linear design, or stick with this angular one?
