A modern day “miracle”, Jane is artificially inseminated – on accident. If that doesn’t make this show sound bad enough – it’s by the CW. Now that we have established that this show is probably very trashy… let’s also come to terms with the fact that I will absolutely be watching it.
Trailer impressions
Another show I watched before the trailer, I really had no idea what to expect. In fact, I had recently watched Cristela, so when it started with a Latina vibe, it brought up all those laugh track nightmares and I momentarily was super not down with this show. Yeah, then I realized that was silly and kept on with life.
So this trailer is mostly about how Jane gets pregnant, but the actual episode is so much more ridiculous, because of the other characters and the crazy coincidences.
Questionable morals
With any CW show, I expect some pretty horrible decisions. So by the time our main character is a mermaid in a hotel pool, and there’s some sneaky wife who is clearly being manipulative to further her own agenda, I know I’m in for some high quality trash-factor. I mean, a girl getting accidentally artificially inseminated with her ex-crush’s sperm, while her relationship is getting serious with her current boyfriend, not to mention her ex-crush is married? Yeah, I just don’t need any more love triangles in my line-up, I don’t think stories about any kind of cheating are enjoyable, and I’m otherwise completely bored with another CW show. (Although, accidentally artificially inseminated? I’m still laughing!)
Wait, are those actual good life choices?
So imagine my surprise when everything falls apart for everyone, giving them the freedom to all try something new. When the characters make bold decisions based on whats good for others. When honesty leads to surprising family revelations. I should have known – the CW knows just how to pull me in…
All goofed up
Because as soon as I feel like I’m actually beginning to like this show, they pull the rug out from under my feet and pretty much revert everyone back to the beginning (only Jane is still pregnant, of course). Other horrors: a terrible spanish guitar scene and the line “and the fact was… this sucked.”
I cannot in good conscious recommend this show to anyone. Any yet, it will probably be a dirty little secret of mine. Is it going to be awful? Truly. Will I watch it? Probably yes. Although not actively. Does that win me any favor back?
